Moosey

At the end of this entry, it is going to tie in with an entry that will be made later. It is time for me to share Moosey’s story.

You see, Moosey is a very quiet young man. He does not share many feelings and thoughts with me. I usually find out something is not right, when I get contacted by the school or a friend. I love Ray. He is a great kid. He is a teenager, and like all teens, he is an individual. I try to teach him to embrace individualism, as long as it does not hurt anybody.

Moosey wants to be a rock star. I pray that he changes that to a christian rock star.

Not everyone agrees that teens need to be individuals. He had a teacher, last year who thought that all kids needed to be conformist. Needless to say, she and Ray did not get along very well. But that is not the incident I want to talk about.

You see, as I said, Moosey is a good kid. He goes through the typical, “Let’s see how long I can get away with only half paying attention in school” thing every year. And of course, every year he gets caught. But usually that is the worst thing that he does. Last year, however, when things were going so well, spiritually, satan could not let good enough alone.

Another child, who was almost never in trouble, took her ADD meds to school. She distributed these to a couple of kids. Ray happened to be one that had one of her pills. He swears he did not take the pill, but being in possession is as bad as taking it, for the first offense. By the time he got called to the principals office, he no longer had it. He says he threw it outside.

This particular pill is one that cannot be tested, therefore a drug screen would not clear his name. There was an eyewitness that swears she saw him take the pill.

Due to his previous record, or lack of one, they put possession down on his file, and not actually taking the pill. He was suspended from school for a week, then he had to attend a special opportunity school for a month. This is a school where they give you a chance to turn your life around. If with in three months of being in this school, you cannot behave well enough to go to public school, you are expelled from the school district. If you get into too much trouble, while attending this school, you can be sent to Juvi. His sentence was for 2 months, but they let him off for good behavior. I consider it a gift from God that he only had to serve one month there.

From the day that I found out about the pill, to the day that he got to go back to public school, I poured out my heart in prayer for deliverance for Moosey. Actually, this is an on-going prayer of mine, for both of my children.

He has not been in legal trouble since then. Yes, there was still problems, but we told him, “Son, everyone makes mistakes. Some mistakes are worse than others. This was your bad one. You now know that your friends can and will get you into trouble, if you just follow the crowd. Be an individual, and say ‘No’”

I was still struggling with working full time or being at home, when all this started. This was one of the many things that led up to my choice to be at home.
