Are you a book nerd? Do you have books in piles on the floor, on the walls, on over-flowing and over-stuffed shelves? Well then you might be in need of a book throne!
What is a book throne and why does it sound so magical to a fellow book lover?
Because it is!
If you are like me, I was constantly rearranging my bookshelf so I could get everything to fit neatly while still being able to read all the spine titles and not let anything fall onto the floor.
No, I am not a book hoarder. Yes, I read all my books multiple times, not just once. No, I hate using the library because I want to keep my books and read them without having a time frame to return them. No, I don’t believe in e-books or e-readers either. I love the printed page and being able to flip through each page until I get to close the back cover. But my love of books and literature clogs up all my free space and I eventually ran out of room. So I had to come up with a new plan…
Since I grew up with a carpenter as a father and Pinterest has DIY and craft ideas galore, I came up with plans to build my own book throne. It’s technically a huge chair made out of book shelves but calling it a book throne makes it sound cozy and magical, so that is what it is.
There are three tiers of shelves that make up the throne all the way around. They are tall enough for those unusually large hardcovers and yet still fit all your paperback mini books without getting lost. Since my father and I designed and built it ourselves, we made it perfect to fit my size. Anyone can really fit into the throne but it is just the right height and width so that I can curl up in it to read my books or work with my laptop in my lap.
I still have my drawn up building plans if you too want a book throne of your own.
But if this sounds like a book lovers dream come true and hard to imagine here I am as happy as can be drinking my chai in my throne…
